Which lesions can be removed with a laser?

Benign lesions frequently appear on the skin and can be removed with a laser, especially if they are often injured or represent an aesthetic concern. The most common include fibromas – soft growths most often found on the neck, in the armpits and on the trunk – viral warts, seborrhoeic keratoses of brown or grey colour and rough surface, which grow slowly, and haemangiomas, the so-called „red moles“.

Only lesions that the doctor has confirmed as benign at the examination are removed with a laser.

Why is an examination mandatory before removal?

Before any skin lesion is removed, a diagnosis must be made. At the dermatological examination the doctor assesses all skin changes and determines which are suitable for laser removal; at the doctor’s discretion, removed tissue can be sent for histopathological analysis. This rule applies without exception: laser removal is never performed „blind“.

What does the treatment involve?

After the examination and diagnosis, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area where needed, making the procedure painless. The laser then removes the lesion precisely, with minimal damage to the surrounding skin. The treatment is brief, and its duration depends on the number and size of the lesions.

Recovery and aftercare

There is no downtime – you return to your usual activities straight away. A scab forms at the site of the removed lesion and lifts off on its own over the following days; it must not be picked. If a lesion is removed during the summer, avoiding sun exposure is essential, along with regular application of a high sun-protection factor (SPF 50), so that the skin at the site does not darken.

Who is it for?

The treatment is intended for people with benign lesions that are frequently injured, bothersome or an aesthetic concern. Lesions that require a different medical approach at the examination are not removed with a laser – they are referred for further diagnostics and treatment.

How much does laser lesion removal cost?

The price depends on the number, size and type of lesions and is set at the examination. See the price list for general service prices.

Frequently asked questions about laser lesion removal

Is lesion removal painful?

No; an anaesthetic cream is applied beforehand where needed, making the procedure painless.

Is a scar left after removal?

The laser removes the lesion precisely, with minimal damage to the surrounding skin. With proper scab care and sun protection, the mark is minimal for most patients; the outcome depends on the size and depth of the lesion.

Is an examination mandatory before removal?

Yes. Every lesion must be diagnosed at the examination; only benign lesions are removed with a laser, and at the doctor’s discretion the removed tissue can be sent for analysis.

Can a lesion come back?

A properly removed lesion most often does not return to the same spot, but new ones can appear elsewhere, particularly with viral warts and fibromas.

Can all lesions be removed in one visit?

It depends on the number, size and distribution of the lesions; the plan is agreed at the examination.
