Daily anti-age skincare at a glance
- Goal: a routine that maintains treatment results every day and slows the visible signs of ageing
- Routine foundation: gentle cleansing, a morning antioxidant, hydration and SPF; active ingredients in the evening
- Key ingredients: vitamin C, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, peptides and retinoids (as tolerated)
- Synergy: home care and in-office treatments work best together, as planned
- Plan: the routine is tailored to your skin at the examination
The basic daily routine
Morning: gentle cleansing, an antioxidant serum (most often vitamin C), a moisturiser and sunscreen. SPF is the most effective anti-age product – most visible signs of ageing are caused by UV exposure.
Evening: thorough but gentle cleansing and active ingredients as planned – retinoids or mild acids a few times a week, with hydration that supports the barrier. Actives are introduced gradually so the skin builds tolerance.
Key anti-age ingredients
- Vitamin C – an antioxidant that evens the tone and supports radiance; usually in the morning, under SPF.
- Retinoids – the most studied anti-wrinkle ingredients; in the evening, introduced gradually, with mandatory sun protection.
- Niacinamide – softens uneven tone and strengthens the barrier; combines well with other ingredients.
- Hyaluronic acid – hydration that fills fine dryness lines.
- Peptides – support skin firmness and elasticity in daily care.
SPF: the most effective anti-age step
Most visible signs of ageing – wrinkles, pigmentation, loss of firmness – are the result of years of UV exposure. Sun protection is therefore the most effective anti-age product of all: every day, all year round, whatever the weather.
In practice: broad-spectrum SPF 30-50 every morning as the last step of the routine (after moisturiser, before makeup), in sufficient quantity, reapplied during longer time outdoors. This matters even more alongside retinoids and acids, which make the skin more sun-sensitive.
How home care fits with treatments
Treatments such as botox, fillers, peels and microneedling do what skincare cannot – but skin quality between treatments depends on daily care. Skin that is hydrated, sun-protected and supported by the right ingredients holds results longer and responds better to every next treatment.
What happens around treatments matters too: active ingredients are paused as needed for a few days before and after procedures – details in post-treatment care.
Frequently asked questions about daily anti-age skincare
When is the right time to start anti-age care?
Prevention starts with SPF – useful at any age. Most people introduce their first active ingredients in their mid-twenties; the exact choice depends on skin condition.
Can I combine a retinoid and vitamin C?
Yes, but not necessarily at the same time of day: vitamin C in the morning under SPF, the retinoid in the evening. Gradual introduction lets the skin adapt without irritation.
How many products are enough?
Three to five well-chosen products do more than ten random ones: cleansing, one antioxidant, hydration, SPF and, if needed, one active ingredient in the evening.
