Chin correction with fillers at a glance

  • What it treats: an underdeveloped or recessed chin, asymmetry, a poorly defined contour of the lower third of the face
  • Method: a denser hyaluronic acid filler, individually planned according to anatomy and proportions
  • Treatment time: about 30 minutes, with anaesthetic cream
  • Recovery: short; mild swelling, redness or bruising may occur and resolve within a few days
  • Duration of effect: 12-18 months, individually

What is chin correction with hyaluronic acid?

Chin correction with hyaluronic acid fillers is a non-surgical treatment that improves the projection and definition of the lower third of the face. Precisely placed filler gives the chin a clearer contour, the profile becomes more balanced, and the relationship between the nose, lips and chin more harmonious – without surgery, general anaesthesia or downtime.

The chin is the aesthetic anchor point of the profile: even a small change in its projection changes the impression of the whole face. That is why this treatment has grown in popularity – it allows a clearly defined jawline and chin contour with the full reversibility hyaluronic acid provides. The goal is not a change of identity, but a discreet improvement of proportions and a natural, balanced result.

Who is the treatment for?

  • people with an underdeveloped or slightly recessed (retrognathic) chin;
  • people with chin asymmetry or an insufficiently defined lower jaw structure;
  • people who want a more defined jawline without surgical intervention;
  • patients in whom ageing reduces the bony and soft-tissue support of the lower third of the face.

With pronounced skeletal jaw anomalies the solution is orthodontic-surgical – we advise on this honestly at the consultation.

How do we plan the treatment?

Filler application is planned individually, in line with anatomy, proportions and aesthetic goals. At the examination we analyse the profile (the relation of the chin to the nose and lips), symmetry and skin quality, then choose a filler of appropriate density and the application points. For chin correction we use firmer fillers intended for deep application, which mimic bony support; when the indication is a wider jawline contour, the Radiesse collagen stimulator is also considered.

What does the treatment look like?

After the agreed plan, the skin is treated with an antiseptic and anaesthetic cream is applied. The filler is then injected at precisely determined points of the chin and, when needed, along the jawline; the application takes a few minutes and the whole treatment about 30 minutes. The result is visible immediately, and full stabilisation of the filler is assessed after a few days. The patient returns to their activities immediately.

Results and duration

The chin is more defined, the profile more balanced and the lower third of the face better shaped – with natural proportions preserved. The effect typically lasts 12-18 months, depending on the product and individual characteristics, after which the procedure can be repeated following professional assessment. Hyaluronic acid fillers are reversible: the result can be adjusted or dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed.

Recovery and aftercare

Temporary reactions at the application site are possible – redness, mild swelling, bruising or tenderness – resolving within a few days. Aftercare recommendations:

  • first 24 hours: no larger amounts of alcohol, no physical activity and no pressure on the chin;
  • 3-4 days: no tanning beds or sauna;
  • do not massage the area unless instructed by the doctor.

Frequently asked questions about chin correction with fillers

Is chin correction with fillers a replacement for surgery?

For mild and moderate projection deficits and asymmetries – yes. Pronounced skeletal jaw anomalies are solved orthodontically and surgically; this is assessed at the consultation.

Is the treatment painful?

Anaesthetic cream is applied and the fillers contain a local anaesthetic, so most patients feel only mild pressure during the application.

How long does the effect last?

Usually 12-18 months, depending on the product and individual characteristics. The treatment can then be repeated.

Is the result reversible?

Yes – hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase if needed.

Can chin correction be combined with other treatments?

Yes – it is often planned together with jawline contouring, the nose profile (non-surgical nose correction) or relaxation of the chin muscle (botulinum), for a harmonious profile.
