How do frown lines form?
Frown lines are the vertical lines between the eyebrows, in the glabella region. They are formed by the corrugator and procerus muscles, which pull the brows down and together when frowning, concentrating or straining the eyes. Like other expression lines, they turn from dynamic to static over time: as collagen and elastin are lost, the skin no longer returns to its original position, so the groove stays even at rest. Sun exposure and thinner skin speed up that transition.
Why does the face look angry?

Botox is the first-line treatment: it relaxes the muscles that form the groove, so the skin smooths out and the face takes on a calmer expression. For deep static lines visible at rest, the groove can be filled with a small amount of hyaluronic filler after botox. The glabella is an anatomically sensitive region, so fillers here are placed only by an experienced physician, conservatively and with risk assessment.

How many units of botox are needed?
It depends on muscle strength – typically several units spread over a few points. Stronger musculature (more common in men) requires higher doses.
Can frown lines disappear completely?
Dynamic lines usually can. Deep static grooves are significantly softened, and with fillers and regular treatments they become progressively shallower over time.
Is glabella treatment riskier than other regions?
Botox in the glabella is routine and safe in experienced hands. Fillers in the glabella carry a higher risk than in most regions and are therefore used conservatively, only when truly needed.
