Thread lift at a glance
- What is treated: lax skin of the face and neck, loss of tone and elasticity, a double chin, irregular contours of the lower third of the face, fine and moderate lines
- Material: biodegradable (resorbable) threads that have been used in medicine for decades; COG threads for a stronger lifting effect when needed
- Treatment time: usually 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of threads and the area
- Recovery: short; temporary swelling, redness or bruising may occur and settle over the following days
- Duration of effect: results develop gradually and can last up to two years, individually
- Price: the plan and price are determined at the consultation, according to the number and type of threads
What are mesothreads?
Mesothreads are thin, biodegradable threads that are placed into the skin to firm, tighten and rejuvenate it. The material they are made from has been used successfully in medicine for decades, including cardiology; in aesthetic medicine it is used because it naturally degrades over time, leaving newly built collagen behind.
For everyone who fears surgery yet longs for a tighter appearance, mesothreads offer a non-surgical alternative: the face and neck can be remodelled, and lax skin regains tone and elasticity, while preserving your natural appearance and facial expression.
How do threads build a firm scaffold for the skin?
The threads are placed into the planned layers of the skin, most often in the form of a mesh that covers the area prone to laxity. Immediately after placement they provide mild support to the tissue, but their main effect is biological: while the body gradually resorbs the threads, new collagen is built around them. In this way a natural „scaffold“ is formed that restores firmness and tightness to the skin.
That is why the results are not assessed immediately, but develop over weeks and months, and can last up to two years, depending on the area, the number of threads and individual factors.
What can they treat?
- lax facial skin and loss of clear contours of the lower third;
- a double chin and an irregular profile;
- fine and moderate lines, including the area around the mouth;
- lax skin of the neck and décolletage;
- body areas with reduced skin firmness, at the doctor’s assessment.
For more pronounced volume loss or deeper lines, mesothreads can be combined with other methods, such as hyaluronic acid fillers or collagen stimulators – we decide on the best combination at the consultation.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment begins with a consultation and facial analysis: the doctor assesses the quality of your skin and the degree of laxity, and determines the number, type and arrangement of the threads. After cleansing the skin, an anaesthetic is applied, most often in the form of a cream, and if needed a local anaesthetic at the entry points.
The threads are then placed with fine needles or cannulas into the planned layers of the skin. The procedure itself usually takes 30-60 minutes. Afterwards, mild swelling, redness or sensitivity of the treated area may occur and settles over the following days.
Mesothreads and COG threads
In addition to standard mesothreads, COG threads are also used – threads with tiny barbs that anchor in the tissue and allow a more pronounced, mechanical lifting effect, particularly in the lower third of the face and on the jawline. While classic mesothreads primarily build a collagen support, COG threads provide a more visible immediate tightening. The choice depends on your anatomy, the quality of your skin and the desired result.
Who is the treatment for, and when is it postponed?
Mesothreads are intended for healthy adults with mild to moderate skin laxity who want non-surgical tightening with a natural result. Treatment is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in the presence of an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, known hypersensitivity to the material, a tendency towards hypertrophic scars, and with certain systemic diseases – all of this is discussed at the consultation.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery is generally short. It is recommended that for the first few days you avoid rubbing and massaging the treated area vigorously, intense exercise, saunas and sunbeds, as well as excessive opening of the mouth and strong facial expressions in the first days. Sleeping on your back with a slightly raised pillow can help the swelling settle sooner. You can always contact the clinic about anything unusual.
How much does thread lift treatment cost?
The price depends on the number and type of threads and the area being treated, so the plan and cost estimate are determined at the consultation, after examination. The general price list is available on the website.
Frequently asked questions about thread lift
Is thread lift treatment painful?
The treatment is performed with a local anaesthetic, so it is well tolerated. After the threads are placed, a feeling of tightness or mild discomfort may occur and passes over the following days.
When are the results of a thread lift visible?
Mild tightening is visible immediately, but the main result develops gradually, over weeks and months, as new collagen is built around the threads. The effect can last up to two years, individually.
Are the threads permanent?
No. Mesothreads are biodegradable: the body naturally degrades them over time, and the newly built collagen that provides firmness remains in the skin.
Can a thread lift be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Mesothreads are often combined with hyaluronic acid fillers, collagen stimulators or laser treatments, with an appropriate plan and spacing determined by the doctor.
Are the threads visible or felt under the skin?
When placed in the appropriate layer and in the correct way, the threads are not visible. In the first few days the treated area may be slightly tender to the touch, which resolves as the skin settles.
