Nose tip and lip flip: what botulinum toxin can and cannot do

Srpski · English · Русский

A small movement can change the way a smile looks. Start with an assessment of movement, not someone else’s before-and-after photo.

Two movements, two different goals

In some people, the nasal tip drops when they smile. The depressor septi nasi is one of the muscles involved. Temporarily reducing its pull may give a subtle change. It cannot reshape nasal cartilage or bone, remove a hump, or replace rhinoplasty. A tip that points down for structural reasons may not respond.

A lip flip targets movement around the upper lip so a little more of its pink edge may show. It does not add volume like a filler. Treating the lip and treating the nose are separate decisions, even though the muscles are close together.

The consultation matters most

We look at the nose and smile at rest and during movement, ask about previous procedures and your medical history, and separate a wish for a small change in movement from a wish for a different shape. This determines whether treatment is worth considering at all.

Nose-tip lift and lip flip are off-label uses relative to the aesthetic indications listed in the Serbian product information for Botox and Bocouture. Off-label does not itself mean inappropriate, but it calls for an individual clinical decision and informed consent. A product, dose, and outcome cannot be promised in an article.

What happens afterwards?

The effect develops over days rather than immediately; it is usually assessed at around two weeks and is temporary. Redness, tenderness or bruising can occur at injection sites. Allow time for review rather than scheduling treatment immediately before an important event.

Because these are precise functional muscles, unwanted spread can change the smile or upper-lip movement. Asymmetry and difficulty forming words, drinking or using a straw are possible; upper-lip droop is also described in the nasal anatomy literature. Seek urgent medical attention for difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing.

Is it right for everyone?

An active infection at the site, allergy to an ingredient and certain neuromuscular disorders may rule treatment out or require special assessment. Tell the clinician about medicines, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any previous nose or lip injections. Online unit counts are not a treatment plan.

Quick questions

Is it a filler? No. A filler adds volume; botulinum toxin changes muscle activity temporarily.

Will it lift every drooping tip? No. The cause of the shape matters, and a subtle change may be the most it can offer.
