Belotero fillers: hyaluronic acid that blends into the skin – from fine lines to volume

Belotero is the hyaluronic filler line of Germany’s Merz Aesthetics, known for a gel that integrates especially evenly into the skin – which makes it a frequent choice for exactly those fine lines that „show in daylight“ and where nobody wants to feel a lump under the skin. At the ESTERA examination in Belgrade we explain which member of the line fits which zone, and whether Belotero is the right choice for what you want.

Belotero at a glance

  • What it is: a hyaluronic filler line by Merz Aesthetics with CPM technology (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix – a matrix that lets the gel integrate evenly into the skin).
  • The line: Belotero Balance (fine to moderate lines), Belotero Intense (deeper folds and lips), Belotero Volume (volume and contour), Belotero Revive (skin quality, with glycerol).
  • Claimed strength: smooth integration – a natural feel to the touch and preserved expression.
  • Duration: depends on the product and zone; roughly 6 to 18 months per product – our own experience for certain zones follows below.
  • Price: see the price list; the plan is confirmed at the examination.

What is CPM technology?

Most hyaluronic fillers are made as a gel of „similar density“ throughout. Belotero is, made differently: the CPM process (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) creates a gel with zones of different density, which lets the material spread evenly and weave into the skin’s own structure. In practice that makes the line especially suitable for superficial lines – where a less cohesive gel could show as a lump or a bluish shadow under thin skin.

Which Belotero for which zone?

  • Belotero Balance – fine to moderate lines: perioral lines around the lips, fine wrinkles on the cheeks. In some countries it is also listed for the under-eye area; whether that is right for you is assessed at the examination.
  • Belotero Intense – deeper folds (such as nasolabial folds) and lip correction when the goal is more fullness.
  • Belotero Volume – volume and contour: cheeks, chin, jawline.
  • Belotero Revive – skin quality: hyaluronic acid with glycerol for hydration, elasticity and glow in early signs of aging. In a randomized multicenter study, Revive significantly improved skin quality versus control.

What is the treatment like?

We start with a consultation: we analyse the zone at rest and in motion and agree the goal. The filler is placed with fine injections or a cannula, depending on the zone; most products in the line also come with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment. It takes about 20 to 40 minutes, and afterwards you receive aftercare instructions and a review appointment.

Results and duration

The result of a filler is visible immediately, and the final look is assessed after 1 to 2 weeks, once swelling settles. Duration depends on the product and zone: roughly 6 months and more for Balance and around 12–18 months for Volume, per indication. ESTERA experience with hyaluronic fillers in certain zones: lips over 12 months, under-eye 12 to 24 months, nose 18 to 24 months – individual variation is possible and is not a guarantee.

Safety and side effects

The most common effects are temporary: redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness at the injection points. Hyaluronic fillers carry the advantage that they can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if needed. As with any filler, rare but serious risks exist (such as a vascular complication), so the choice of zone, technique and depth belongs to an experienced physician. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with active infection or hypersensitivity to ingredients.

How does it sit alongside other fillers?

Each line has its specialty: Revanesse (our standard line), Teosyal, Restylane, Juvederm, MAILI and Belotero differ in gel technology, cohesivity and intended use. Belotero traditionally stands out for superficial lines and seamless integration. A general overview of the category is on the hyaluronic fillers page, and the specific product is chosen together at the examination.

How much does it cost?

The price depends on the product, the amount and the zone. See the ESTERA price list for the framework; the exact figure and plan are confirmed at the consultation, before treatment.

Frequently asked questions

How is Belotero different from other hyaluronic fillers?

CPM technology: the gel integrates more evenly into the skin, which makes it especially suitable for superficial lines. Which product is right for you is assessed at the examination.

Which Belotero is for lips?

Most often Intense, when the goal is fullness; Balance for fine lines around the lips. The choice depends on anatomy and the desired effect.

Can Belotero be felt under the skin?

The gel fully integrates into the skin, so the area feels natural to the touch. Sensation in the first days also depends on post-injection swelling.

How long does the result last?

Roughly 6 to 18 months, per product and indication. ESTERA experience for certain zones is longer (lips over 12 months, under-eye 12–24, nose 18–24), with individual variation.

Can it be dissolved if I don’t like it?

Yes – hyaluronic fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase when needed.
