A healthy smile starts early. At ESTERA we welcome children from the age of 3. A child’s first visit to the dentist should be a pleasant experience, not the place where a child learns to be afraid. At ESTERA in Vračar we adapt the examination to your child’s age, and give you a clear plan: what is fine, what to keep an eye on and how to keep your little one’s teeth healthy.

Why baby teeth matter

Many parents think baby teeth are not important because they will fall out anyway. In fact, they hold the space for permanent teeth, help with chewing and speech, and influence how the jaw develops. Tooth decay in a baby tooth can hurt, spread and cause problems before the permanent tooth even erupts. That is why the best time for a check-up is when nothing is bothering your child.

The first examination: getting acquainted without pressure

The first visit is about your child getting to know the practice and the doctor, while you get answers to the questions that really matter to you: how to brush their teeth, what they eat, whether teething is late, and whether a dummy or thumb-sucking is a problem. You have the opportunity to ask anything you want to know.

What we offer for children from age 3

  • Check-ups and monitoring – regular examinations so changes are caught while they are small.
  • Topical fluoride application – strengthens enamel and lowers the risk of decay.
  • Fissure sealing – protecting the chewing surfaces of permanent molars.
  • Fillings – treating decay in baby and permanent teeth.
  • Baby tooth extraction – when needed.
  • Advice for home – brushing, diet and habits that are easiest to build early.

How you can help

Children take their cue from their parents. Talk about the dentist calmly and without frightening them, do not promise that „nothing will hurt“, and come for a check-up before a problem appears. Brushing twice a day and fewer sweets between meals do more than any dental practice can.

Frequently asked questions

When should I take my child for their first check-up?

We welcome children from the age of 3. It is best for a child to meet the dentist when nothing hurts, rather than only when a problem appears. That is also when we agree on how to keep their teeth healthy.

Why treat baby teeth if they will fall out?

Baby teeth hold the space for permanent teeth and help with chewing and speech. Untreated decay can cause pain and infection, so it is treated in baby teeth too.

What is fissure sealing?

It is the protection of a molar’s chewing surface with a thin layer of material that makes decay in the grooves of the tooth less likely. Whether your child needs it is assessed at the check-up.

How do I prepare my child for a dental visit?

Talk calmly and simply about what to expect, without frightening them and without promising that nothing will be unpleasant.

Can I pay in instalments?

Besides cash, you can pay with Visa, Mastercard and DinaCard. Payment in instalments is possible if your card and bank support that option; ESTERA does not approve or set instalment terms.
