Stretch
Stretch marks treatments in Belgrade: realistic improvement in texture and skin colour
Stretch marks are linear changes in the dermis that occur when the skin changes faster than its supporting fibers can adapt. They can occur during growth, pregnancy, major changes in body weight, muscle mass development or under the influence of hormones and hereditary preferences. They are common and do not pose a health problem in themselves, but some people are bothered by the colour, width or uneven texture.
There is no treatment that guarantees complete removal of stretch marks. The goal of the medical plan is to make them less noticeable: to alleviate contrast with the surrounding skin, improve texture and reduce the impression of dents. The choice of procedure depends on whether the stretch marks are new or old, what region they are on, what kind of phototype of skin is and how much time the patient can take for recovery.
Shortcuts
- How they look: new stretch marks are often pink, red or purple; more mature ones become lighter, whiter and may be slightly recessed.
- Where they report: most often on the stomach, hips, thighs, gluteus, chest, back and upper arms.
- What we estimate: colour, age, width, depth, distribution, phototype and condition of the surrounding skin.
- Possible treatments: MicroNeedling, selected laser protocols, PRP or mesotherapy, either alone or in a meaningful combination.
- Result: gradual improvement, not complete removal; the response differs among patients.
- Price: depends on the area, procedure and number of sessions; the plan and price are confirmed after the examination.
What are stretch marks and why do they form?
Stretch marks, or striae distensae, are not superficial scratches. The change is found in the deeper layer of the skin, where collagen and elastin reorganize. That is why creams and oils can help care and feel of the skin, but they can not reliably remove the already formed stretch marks.
The most common periods of occurrence are puberty, pregnancy and rapid changes in body mass. Stretch marks can also occur in people who are intensively training and rapidly gaining muscle mass. Long-term or inadequate use of corticosteroids and certain hormonal conditions can also be associated with their occurrence. If the changes are sudden, wide or without a clear reason, a medical assessment of the causes is first required.
Red and white stripes: why does colour change the plan?
New stretch marks, known as striae rubrae, are usually pink, red or purple. At this stage, a more pronounced vascular and inflammatory component is present. Mature stretch marks, striae albae, become lighter and often have a thinner, slightly recessed texture.
The difference is important because one procedure does not solve colour and texture equally. In red stretch marks, the goal can include colour mitigation with work on the structure of the skin. In white stretch marks, the plan is more often aimed at remodeling and leveling the texture. An earlier start can be advantageous, but even old stretch marks are not automatic without the possibility of improvement.
What kind of treatment does it make sense?
There is no universal „best“ treatment. Evidence for stretch marks includes various laser and light technologies, MicroNeedling and radio frequency MicroNeedling, as well as combined protocols. Studies differ by device type, parameters, phototype and method of evaluating results, so the result of one method cannot be automatically transferred to each person or each device.
MicroNeedling
MicroNeedling Creates controlled microchannels in the skin and initiates the process of healing and remodeling. With stretch marks, the goal is to improve texture and support the creation of new collagen in the treated region. Depth is chosen according to skin thickness, region and safety, and not as a rule that deeper is always better.
After treatment, redness, a feeling of warmth and sensitivity are expected. Transient toads or dandruff are possible. Special attention is needed in phototypes prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, which is why the parameters and spacing between sessions are determined by expert assessment.
Laser treatments
Selected fractional laser protocols can be considered for remodeling the texture of more mature stretch marks, while other types of light or laser can play a role when the colour is a pronounced problem. There is no single “laser for all stretch marks”. The type of technology, wavelength, energy and recovery plan depend on the stretch marks phase and phototype.
Laser can cause redness, swelling, dandruff or temporary pigment change. Treatment is not planned on tanned skin or without assessing the risk of pigment changes. Read more about the approach to remodeling scar tissue on the page Laser Scar Treatment; the applicability to stretch marks is confirmed only after examination.
PRP
PRP is prepared from the blood of the patient himself and can be used as part of a regenerative plan. In stretch marks it is considered independently or with a procedure that triggers remodeling, but it should not be promised that the PRP will erase stretch marks. Its role, method of application and number of sessions depend on the region and the overall plan.
Mesotherapy and skin care
Mesotherapy can be a supplement to the skin quality plan when there is a clear indication and the appropriate preparation is selected. It does not replace the remodeling procedures in deep white stretch marks. Daily hydration, mild care regime and sun protection help the barrier and reduce the additional contrast, but do not remove the scarring change in the dermis.
When do treatments combine?
Combining it makes sense only when different steps solve different components of the problem. For example, one procedure can be directed to the texture, and the other to biological support recovery. More procedures in the same plan are not in itself better. Too strong or too frequent stimulation can prolong inflammation and increase the risk of pigment changes.
The plan is therefore made in stages, with enough time for the skin to respond and for the result to be evaluated before the next session.
What does the treatment plan and examination look like?
- >>srp_Latn<< Phase assessment: Whether the striae are red, purple, light or mixed.
- Assessment of the region: The stomach, thighs, hips, gluteus, breasts and upper arms have different thickness and skin tolerance.
- Phototype and risks: tendency to hyperpigmentation, active dermatoses, medication, pregnancy or breastfeeding and a history of healing.
- Objective: decrease in contrast, leveling texture or a combination of both.
- Plan and Recovery: method selection, session spacing, care and control.
Photos in the same light can help to assess progress realistically. Change is gradually developing, because remodeling collagen takes time.
How many treatments are needed?
The number cannot be reliably determined without a review. The old stretch marks usually require more patience than the newer changes. Instead of the promise of a fixed package, it is more reasonable to make an initial plan, evaluate the answer and then decide whether the follow-up makes sense.
Recovery and care after treatment
Recovery depends on the method and intensity. After MicroNeedling or laser, redness, heat, sensitivity, swelling, dryness or dandruff may occur. Skin should be gently cleaned and nourished with the preparations agreed upon inspection. Sun, solarium, sauna, swimming pool, intensive training, friction of clothes and active cosmetic ingredients are temporarily limited according to the procedure.
Wide-spectral sun protection is important on exposed regions. No toy removal or introduction of acids, retinoids or home roller devices until the barrier is recovered.
Safety and when treatment is delayed
Treatment is delayed with active infection, open wound, pronounced inflammation or active dermatoses in the region. Pregnancy, lactation, healing disorders, tendency to keloids, skin-related therapies or coagulation and other health conditions require individual assessment. Fresh tanning can increase the risk with certain laser procedures.
Frequently Asked Questions About Stretches
Can the stretch marks disappear completely?
We can not guarantee complete removal. The realistic goal is to become less visible through improvement of colour, width and texture. The degree of response depends on the phase of stretch marks, region, phototype and the chosen treatment.
Are red stretch marks easier to treat?
New red or purple stretch marks often have a more active vascular component and can respond differently from old white stretch marks. This does not mean that there is a guaranteed result, but that the phase of change affects the choice of method.
Is Laser the Best Treatment for Stretch marks?
There is no one best procedure for all. Different lasers target different components, and in some patients MicroNeedling or a combined plan may be more appropriate. Phototype and risk of pigment changes are important.
Does MicroNeedling help with white stretch marks?
It can be considered for remodeling and improving the texture of more mature stretch marks. The result is gradual and usually requires a series, but the number and depth of treatment are determined after examination.
Does the treatment hurt?
The feeling depends on the region and procedure. It is possible to tingling, heat or discomfort, and if necessary, local anesthesia is used when appropriate. After treatment, the region can remain sensitive for several days.
How long does recovery take?
Depends on the method and intensity. Milder protocols can leave a short redness, while more intense laser or MicroNeedling can include several days of visible recovery. The correct frame is given with a specific plan.
Do the creams and oils remove stretch marks?
They can help hydration and skin sensation, but they can not reliably restore the already changed structure of the dermis or erase mature stretch marks. Especially carefully should be interpreted products that promise complete removal.
When can I start treatment after pregnancy?
The plan depends on recovery, breastfeeding, skin condition and selected procedure. The examination is required before the decision; treatment is not scheduled according to one universal time rule.
