Radiesse – collagen stimulator for natural skin rejuvenation

Srpska verzija

Do you want a sharper contour, restoration of lost volume, or better skin quality? These are not the same question, and they do not always call for the same treatment. At ESTERA we use Radiesse+ Lidocaine, a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) preparation in a gel with lidocaine. It can play a role in restoring volume and in gradual tissue change, but the goal depends on the area, the preparation of the product and the way it is applied. [1,4]

At ESTERA on Vračar, the choice begins with a consultation: what you want to change, the current state of the tissue, and whether Radiesse is the right choice for that goal. You do not need to arrive with a product already chosen.

Radiesse at a glance

  • Product: Radiesse+ Lidocaine, calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in a gel with lidocaine.
  • Goal: telling volume restoration and contouring apart from skin-quality work.
  • Result: the initial look and the later assessment are not the same; expectations are agreed according to the application.
  • Plan: the area, amount and follow-up are set individually.
  • Price: Radiesse 1.5 ml – 48,000 RSD; special offer 36,000 RSD.

What is Radiesse and how does it work?

Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. In volume-restoration use, the material can provide an initial correction. Over time the product degrades, and its effect is not permanent. The cited European instructions for use for Radiesse 1.5 ml describe application in the deep layers of the skin and below it, with specific indications and preparation. That document is not the instructions for the identical Radiesse+ Lidocaine product. For its composition we cite the separate Radiesse+ Lidocaine instructions; the instructions supplied with the specific package on the Serbian market remain authoritative for treatment. [1,4]

In a small clinical study of diluted CaHA on the neck and décolletage, changes in collagen and elastin were recorded, along with measured skin properties. This supports a discussion about biostimulation, but it does not guarantee a specific change in every patient and does not prove that the same protocol suits every area. [2]

Volume or skin quality: what do you want to change?

If your main concern is loss of fullness, the assessment focuses on volume distribution and tissue support. If you do not want added fullness but are concerned about laxity or the look of the skin, the plan may be different. Not every line is the result of the same problem.

What you do not want matters too: a change in expression, added volume in a particular area, or a treatment whose recovery you cannot fit into your commitments. The goal of the consultation is to clarify those expectations before a product is chosen.

Volumizing and diluted application

Volume application: the goal is correction of a volume deficit or a specific contour, in line with the instructions for the specific product. An initial correction does not mean that every later change is already complete. [1]

Diluted application: changes the properties of the product and the way it is distributed in the tissue. The goal can be work on skin quality, rather than the same filling effect as with volumizing application. There is no single dilution ratio that can be prescribed for every area or patient. [1,2]

The cited European instructions for Radiesse 1.5 ml, which do not relate to the identical Radiesse+ Lidocaine product, list nasolabial folds, cheeks, volume restoration on the backs of the hands, and a diluted application for certain décolletage lines. The neck is not listed among those indications. Use on the neck, or any other use not covered by the instructions for the specific product, is use outside the approved indications (off-label); a published study does not in itself change that status. Before deciding, the physician checks the instructions for the product used in Serbia and explains the goal, limitations and alternatives. [1,2]

When is the result visible and how long does it last?

With volume restoration, the initial correction may be visible earlier. However, swelling and the tissue response affect the appearance immediately after treatment. With diluted application the same immediate volume effect is not expected; changes are assessed gradually. [1,2]

Duration cannot be reduced to the same figure for every technique and area. The cited European instructions describe a duration of at least 12 months in most subjects for the listed indications, but that is neither a personal guarantee nor a promise for every off-label use. At the consultation, agree when the result will be checked and whether there is a reason for an additional treatment. [1]

Radiesse, hyaluronic filler or PLLA?

Hyaluronic fillers, Radiesse and PLLA products are not the same materials. Studies comparing specific products in one area do not give a universal answer as to which is „best“ for every patient. A randomized trial of CaHA and certain hyaluronic fillers concerned nasolabial folds, not every area of the face or every current product. [3]

If PLLA is being considered, at ESTERA you can read about that option on the aesPlla and Lanluma pages. A shared group of materials is no reason to consider products or protocols interchangeable.

For a broader overview, read the guide to collagen stimulators. If you want to prepare questions for your examination, the article aesPlla, Lanluma or Radiesse: how to choose? explains why the decision starts with the goal, not the product name.

What do the consultation and treatment look like?

At the consultation, explain what you want to change, previous treatments and products, the medicines you take, and health information that may affect the choice. The physician assesses the area and whether any of these treatments is suitable at all.

Before the procedure, the product name, the goal of the application, the planned amount, the total price and the follow-up plan should be clear. The method of application and the length of the visit depend on the area and the scope of work. The manufacturer’s instructions require application by an appropriately trained healthcare professional. [1]

Recovery and aftercare

Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising can occur. Their duration varies; do not plan an important event relying on a promise that there will be no visible signs. You receive instructions tailored to the treated area and product. [1]

The manufacturer’s instructions cover limitations related to intensive exercise, heat and sun exposure, cosmetics and handling of the treated area. Follow the exact schedule given by your physician rather than adopting a protocol from the internet. Massage, if planned, should be done only in the way the physician explained. If a reaction is unexpected or intensifies, contact the clinic. [1]

Frequently asked questions

Does every Radiesse treatment add volume immediately?

No. Volume-restoration application and diluted application do not have the same goal. The initial look can include swelling and is not enough to judge the final result.

Is diluted Radiesse used only outside approved indications?

Not necessarily. The cited European instructions for Radiesse 1.5 ml, not for the identical Radiesse+ Lidocaine product, cover a specific diluted application on the décolletage. The neck is not listed in those instructions. For a specific treatment the physician checks the product, the local instructions and the area; use not covered by the applicable instructions is off-label.

How long does the result last?

It depends on the indication, the area and the application. The European instructions describe a duration of at least 12 months in most subjects for the listed indications. That is not a guarantee for an individual patient or for every application.

Are aesPlla and Lanluma a replacement for Radiesse?

They are different options and are not chosen as automatic replacements. The examination, the goal and the instructions for the specific product determine whether we are talking about Radiesse, a hyaluronic filler or a PLLA product.

Is 1.5 ml enough for the whole treatment?

That cannot be promised in advance. The price list states a 1.5 ml unit; the required amount, the number of visits and the total price are confirmed after the assessment.

Does the special-offer price apply to every treatment?

The special-offer item in the price list refers to Radiesse 1.5 ml. Before booking, confirm with the clinic whether the offer currently applies to your plan, what it includes and what the total price is.
