Dental Implants

Srpska verzija

There is no doubt that implants are the last word in modern dentistry when it comes to aesthetics and functionality. They are metal, more precisely titanium, screws that are placed directly into the bone. In this way, a lasting replacement for one or more teeth is effectively achieved. The aim is to replace the root of a tooth that has been lost for certain reasons, which may be trauma, caries or genetic factors. To be safe for the body, implants undergo extremely rigorous controls and technological testing, and if oral and dental hygiene is maintained properly, they can be an excellent option for long-term tooth replacement. It is desirable for the bone into which the implant will be placed to be of good quality, but if that is not the case, artificial bone can be placed, which bonds with the healthy tissue.

What is important is that this is a short procedure performed under local anaesthesia. After the intervention, some sensitivity may occur as a result of the procedure itself. For the reconstruction of lost teeth, implants are the right choice, and placing them takes only 2 days. They are placed on the first day, and the body’s reaction is then monitored over the next 24 hours. We schedule the next appointment 3 months later to establish how the implant has fused with the jawbone, and on that occasion an assessment is made regarding the production of the prosthetic part, for which 5 to 7 days should be planned.

If you wonder what a dental implant looks like, you should know that it consists of a titanium root placed in the jawbone, an abutment that is screwed into the titanium root, and the prosthetic restoration on top. To begin with, an X-ray is a good indicator of the direction to take, that is, whether enough bone mass is preserved or atrophy has occurred. In the latter case, placing artificial bone is obligatory.

Within its „Dental tourism“ programme, our „Estera“ practice provides special benefits for implant placement, follow-up and the continuation of the procedure, which involves choosing the appropriate crown, bridge or denture that will make the whole process aesthetically and functionally complete. With normal recovery and no adverse reactions – because titanium is biocompatible and the body accepts it well – it is really no surprise that this intervention, which delivers excellent results, is one of the most sought-after here and worldwide. In practice, implant rejection is a truly rare occurrence. In that case, new implants are placed within the shortest possible time, in a simple and quick manner.

The advantage of this method is the absence of grinding, which is unavoidable with metal-free and metal-ceramic crowns, as well as with veneers. To prevent tartar build-up, it is very important to maintain proper oral and dental hygiene so that the gums stay healthy and clean. It is extremely important that you can fully carry on with your daily activities without any restrictions while waiting for the prosthetic restoration that our dentist will recommend.
