What is Lanluma?
Lanluma is a new-type biostimulator based on poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) – a material used safely in medicine and aesthetic medicine for more than two decades. Instead of instantly filling volume like a classic filler, Lanluma stimulates the body to build new collagen in the treated area itself, so the result develops gradually, looks natural and lasts a long time.
In aesthetic practice, Lanluma is most often used for lifting and contouring the buttocks and hips without surgery (a „non-surgical bum lift“), as well as for restoring volume to the hands and rejuvenating the face.
How does Lanluma work?
After injection into the deep layers of the skin or subcutaneous tissue, the PLLA particles gradually activate the natural process of collagen formation: the tissue around the product begins to build new collagen fibres, restoring firmness, elasticity and volume to the skin. The body resorbs the product over time, but the newly formed collagen remains – which is why the effect lasts more than two years.
Unlike instant filling, the result is not seen immediately: the first changes are noticeable within 6-8 weeks, and the full effect develops over 9 months as new collagen is built.
Which areas can be treated?
- buttocks and hips – added volume, lifting and a natural contour, without surgery and without implants;
- hands – restoring volume and rejuvenation;
- face – skin laxity and wrinkles, in areas defined by the doctor.
Areas such as the perioral zone and the eye area are avoided; every plan is defined by the doctor at the consultation.
What does the treatment look like?
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis, with anaesthesia. After the area is disinfected, the product is injected into the planned zones using a cannula technique, followed by a massage that evens out the product. The procedure takes about 30-45 minutes. Most patients return to their usual activities the same day; temporary swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites is possible in the first days.
Aftercare recommendations: regular massage of the treated area according to the doctor’s instructions, avoiding intense physical effort and the sauna in the first days, and sun protection.
How many treatments are needed?
The number of treatments depends on the goal and the area: most patients need 1-3 treatments about two months apart. Results keep building for months after the last treatment as collagen forms, and they can last more than two years.
