What is PRP treatment?
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), also known as the „vampire treatment“, is a regenerative procedure in which the patient’s own blood plasma, enriched with platelets, is used for skin rejuvenation. The method has been used for decades in physical medicine, rehabilitation and implant dentistry, and in aesthetic medicine it has become one of the most sought-after natural approaches to rejuvenation.
The basic idea is simple: instead of foreign substances, the skin is given back what already belongs to it – a concentrate of its own growth factors. That is why PRP is a frequent choice for those who want a completely natural approach or do not feel ready for treatments such as fillers.
How does your own plasma stimulate skin renewal?
Platelets isolated from your blood contain numerous growth factors that take part in the natural regeneration of tissue. When concentrated plasma is returned to the skin, these growth factors stimulate the proliferation of fibroblasts – the cells that build collagen and elastin – and contribute to the formation of new blood vessels and the renewal of the extracellular matrix, whose basic component is hyaluronic acid.
Plasma also contains proteins, hormones and nutrients that help the skin tissue recover. The result is not an instant change as with fillers, but a gradual improvement in the quality, texture and tone of the skin over the weeks and months after treatment.
What can be treated?
At ESTERA, PRP is most often used for:
- tired, lax and dull skin of the face, neck and décolletage;
- fine lines and uneven skin texture;
- dark circles and a tired eye area;
- scars, including acne scars, and stretch marks;
- rejuvenation of the skin of the hands.
For more pronounced lines or volume loss, PRP can be combined with other methods, such as hyaluronic acid fillers or MicroNeedling, in line with your individual plan.
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment begins with a small sample of your blood, similar to a routine laboratory test. The blood is then centrifuged to separate the plasma richest in platelets. After cleansing the skin, and if needed applying a cream containing a local anaesthetic, the plasma is injected with fine needles into the planned areas.
The whole procedure usually takes 45-60 minutes. As your own biological material is used, the possibility of an allergic reaction to the plasma itself is very small.
PRP Cellular Matrix
In addition to classic PRP, PRP Cellular Matrix is also available – a variant in which the plasma is bound into a gelled form, the so-called „natural filler“. Thanks to the fibrin network, the growth factors are released gradually, over a longer period, while a mild volumising effect is achieved at the same time. Both forms are listed in the price list; the choice depends on the indication and the goal of treatment.
Who is the treatment for, and when is it postponed?
PRP is intended for healthy adults who want natural, gradual skin revitalisation and have the patience to follow the results through a course of treatments. Treatment is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in the presence of an active infection, serious blood diseases and clotting disorders, active autoimmune processes in the acute phase, and with therapy that significantly affects platelets. Share all relevant medical information with the doctor at your consultation.
Recovery and aftercare
Recovery is generally short. Temporary redness, mild swelling or small bruises may occur at the injection sites and settle over the following days. It is recommended to avoid intense exercise, saunas and sunbeds for a day or two after treatment, and to protect your skin from the sun regularly. You can always contact the clinic about anything you notice after treatment.
How much does PRP treatment cost?
The price depends on the variant chosen – classic PRP or PRP Cellular Matrix – and on the area being treated. You can view current prices in the price list; the plan and number of treatments are determined at the consultation.

Frequently asked questions about PRP treatment
Is PRP treatment safe?
PRP uses the patient’s own blood plasma, so the possibility of an allergic reaction to the product itself is very small. As with any injectable treatment, temporary redness, swelling or bruising may occur and settle over the following days.
When are the results of PRP treatment visible?
The results develop gradually. Many people notice the first changes in skin quality after a few weeks, while the full effect builds over the months, as this is natural tissue renewal.
How many treatments are needed?
A course of several treatments a few weeks apart is usually recommended, with maintenance treatments later if needed. The exact plan depends on the indication and the condition of your skin.
Is PRP the same as a filler?
No. Fillers are ready-made products based on hyaluronic acid that provide volume immediately, while PRP stimulates the skin’s own renewal with gradual results. The methods can also be combined when needed. Read more in the article Botox or hyaluronic acid fillers: which treatment is right for you?
Can PRP help with scars and stretch marks?
PRP is used to support skin regeneration in scars, including acne scars, and stretch marks, often in combination with other methods such as MicroNeedling. The result is gradual and depends on the depth and age of the changes.
Can I pay in instalments?
Besides cash, you can pay by Visa, Mastercard or DinaCard. Instalments are possible only if your card and issuing bank support them; ESTERA does not grant or set instalment terms. See Payment methods.
I’m afraid of needles – does it hurt?
Very fine needles are used and the treatment is short; most patients describe it as a mild sting. If needles worry you, tell us at the consultation: we agree how to make the treatment as comfortable as possible, including a topical anaesthetic cream where appropriate. There is no pressure – you can start with a conversation and an examination, with no obligation to decide on the spot.
